Each block of
stone is carefully selected and comes from various quarries
in the South of France...
• Hard
limestone with very fine, homogenous
grain. Off-white regular coloring with crystalline
flakes. The same stone was used
for building the base of the Statue of
Liberty in New-York.
• Limestone
with fairly coarse grain, varying in
color from white to light ochre, with small seashells.
• White
limestone with very fine grain, soft
to the touch. Traces of shells and other sediments
give it an original character
• Gold-color
limestone with coarse grain, characterized
by the presence of many fossil seashells
A unique site, this world-famous aquaduct built
by the Romans in the Nîmes area has been
added to UNESCO'S World Heritage list.
Patina
The art of patina consists in modifying the colour
and appearance of the stone in order to
make it look old and weathered, as if it had suffered
from the passing of time.
Our stone craftsman’s experience, acquired
while restoring historical monuments, has given
him the skills to apply this particular technique
to perfection.
Restoration of a historical
monument (a church in the village of Poujet)
by our stone mason.
Use of the patina technique to ‘age’
the new stone.
